We're Here!

We’ve been in Bali for about a week. Every morning our parents go to yoga class for a couple of hours so we’re alone. We get breakfast from the restaurant by ourselves. My favorite breakfast is pancakes and tea with milk and sugar. Then we play with Rohan – our two year old friend. This is our typical morning.

Yesterday we went to the Monkey Forest. the trees there are HUGE!! There are so many monkeys there – they are macaques. The babies are so cute. The little ones like to jump on you. We saw a tiny one who must have been only three days old. It was trying to climb on a bush but it couldn’t. To get the baby monkeys to jump on you, stick your hands in your pockets – then they think you have food. Never look a teenager or a grown-up in the eyes – it means you are challenging them to a fight. The females and males have HUGE canines. They could do a number on you – a very big number! -arjuna

One monkey chased me because I had a plastic spoon in my mouth! - julie

We also went to see a beautiful and exciting school called Green School. the buildings are are sustainably built, primarily out of bamboo and rammed earth. The administrators are wonderful and the teacher that we got to meet was amazing. We’d love to send the kids here – we’ll see what happens…! Check them out on the web at greenschool.org.

Getting Ready to Go

We leave for a year of travel to Thailand, Bali, Australia, and maybe India in 17 days. That's 10 days of school and 2 circus classes away. I'll miss my friends. But we might get to raise goats. We have to pack up the house. I can't wait til June 17. - arjuna

I'm so excited to go to Thailand. I hope we make some friends, 'cause I'm going to miss the ones here. I hope we start a farm. That would be cool. -julie
